MamacitasMonday: Candice Peak

Candice is one of those women that lights a room when she walks in, specially if she is leading an indoor cycling class. She is no joke as an instructor and you bet she will make you break a sweat, plus she is best known for having the best music evaaahhhhh!

I know you want to know all about her, so I won't get into many details and I will let you read from your own, but I if don't love her already, you will at the end!

AA: Ok, in one sentence tell us who you are? (where are you from, where did you grow up, guilty pleasure, etc.)

CP: I cannot do this in one sentence so let’s try two. My name is Candice Peak and I am a Boston based fitness instructor andfinancial services professional. I grew up in Andover, MA, I went to the University of Wisconsin (GO BADGERS), I was acompetitive swimmer for 14 years, and my leggings collection is quite impressive (but my organization of them is not)

AA :What is your favorite way to move your booty AKA working out?

Choosing just one would be impossible! I love indoor cycling, boxing, swimming, running…the list goes on but basicallyanything that rides the fine line between a high intensity workout and torture. 

AA: If you could be one type of exercise, which one would you be and why?

CP: HIIT because I’m always moving from one thing to the next at 100mph. Or if Beyonce was an exercise, I would probablyidentify with that. 

AA: What gets you out of bed, and says I wanna teach today?

CP: THE PEOPLE. Knowing I have the opportunity to lead a community of amazing people and help them feel likerockstars makes me look forward to that 5am alarm.

AA: When times are hard, how do you channel your inner badass?

CP: Sweat and music are magical things, especially together. There is nothing that makes me feel more confident and ready totake on anything that comes my way than some fire jams and a good workout. 

AA: How would you describe your happy place?

CP: Besides a very poorly lit room with stationary bikes or heavy bags and very loud hip hop? Anywhere that includes myfavorite humans & my BFF Scooter. 

AA: If you could spend your life in one place, where would it be?

CP: I envision Boston always being home base!

AA: What is your badass quote?

CP: “Don’t be afraid to fail. Be afraid not to try”. I stumbled across this quote a few years ago and it’s been my favorite since.  The fear of failure is not an excuse to avoid going outside your comfort zone or  to delay trying something new. Yourpotential is endless, as long as you keep moving your feet one step further than you did yesterday, even if it means steppinginto the unknown.

CP: You can find me at The Handle Bar (South Boston, Harvard Square, & Fenway) and at EverybodyFights (Seaport & FiDi), orwandering around the Financial District looking like I fell out of a J.Crew catalogue.
