#MamacitasMonday: Natasha Whitby

#MamacitaMonday is a glimpse in the life of a babe that inspire Boston (and beyond!) - someone that not only teaches fitness classes but is making an impact. I take classes with this babes, work with them or happen to meet them. You bet they all look gorg while teaching but they are more than that, and I know you want a peek ;)

This week I spoke to QUEEN Natasha Whitby. If you have taken Natasha's class or you know her you know she can't go unnoticed. Natasha is the definition of confidence and fierce, and the friend that you want on Friday nights. Can you tell I love her???

AA: Ok, in one sentence tell us who you are? (where are you from, where did you grow up, guilty pleasure, etc.)

NW: My name is Natasha Whitby - I'm from Simsbury, CT and I have a horrible habit of eating crab rangoons after 2am.

AA: What is your favorite way to move your booty AKA working out?

NW: Since I teach cycling at The Handle Bar, it's no surprise I love it! In all honesty, my favorite part is getting off the bike and dancing around. Love a good song and you can't stop my dance moves. Right now - Bad Man by Missy or Bank Roll by Diplo make me lose it. 

AA: If you could be one type of exercise, which one would you be and why?

NW: Squats. My riders know one of my favorite lines before a heavy climb is "Now...we're gonna work on THAT ASS." As soon as I say this they know exactly what we're doing - squats in and out of that saddle, baby! Curious as to what that looks like? Come through and find out for yourself. 

AA: What gets you out of bed, and says I wanna teach today?

NW: I've been teaching for about a year and a half now - I teach 6am and 7am classes and let me tell you...every time my alarm goes off at 4:30am I hit snooze 45 times because I am NOT a morning person. However, as soon as I get to class and look at everyone in the room -- my regulars, my front and center, even someone in the back corner -- I love to see everyone in the room working towards SOMETHING. Everyone has one thing in common - they are there for SOME reason. For some, it's as small as wanting a hot summer bod, but for others it's bigger, deeper and more emotional. Either way, everyone is coming together to work on bettering themselves and I get to see that firsthand day-by-day. I see it in how they carry themselves and the looks on their faces when they've accomplished something new or set a new milestone. I love helping my riders feel confident and empowered.

AA: When times are hard, how do you channel your inner badass? 

NW: When I'm down I honestly find my inner badass by working out. I feel my sexiest and most confident when I'm working out.

AA: How would you describe your happy place?

NW: Your happiest life is based on the strength of your relationships; your family, friends, significant others (if you're there...and if not, that's fine too) and most importantly the relationship you have with yourself. We're not meant to live life alone. I'd describe my happy place as being in love with myself and having meaningful relationships with my friends and family.

AA: If could spend your life in one place, where would it be?

NW: Florence. I studied abroad there and fell in love with the city, people, culture and of course...FOOD. 

AA: What is your badass quote?

NW: I don't like women telling other women what to do, or how to do it, or when to do it. 

AA: Where can we catch you?

NW: The Handle Bar Southie and Fenway...or crushing the dance floor at Capo - depends on the time of day.
